Job Card
A Job Card contains real-time production details concerning a specific Operation carried out on a designated Workstation.
Derived from the Work Order, each Workstation on the manufacturing floor receives a Job Card, instructing the initiation of item production with specified quantities for each Operation outlined in the Work Order.
The Job Card facilitates the issuance of a “Material Request” and “Stock Transfer to Manufacture” for the necessary raw materials against a specific “Job Card” at each Operation’s workstation.
Completion of the Job Card alters the production status within the Work Order, enabling us to monitor the progress of production for each Operation defined in the Work Order.
To access the Job Card list, go to: > Home > Manufacturing > Production > Job Card
1. Prerequisites
Before creating and using a Job Card, it is advised that you create the following first:
2. How to Create a Job Card
When a Work Order is submitted, Job Cards for Operations are automatically generated.
Here’s an overview of a Job Card:
To utilize a Job Card, follow these steps:
- Click the “Start Job” button, then click “Complete Job” upon completion. Alternatively, you can input the “From Time” and “To Time” in the Time Logs table.
- Select the Employee assigned to the Job Card.
- Enter the Completed Quantity, representing the number of Items on which the Operation was executed within the specified time interval.
- Add additional rows in the Time Logs table and record time using the Start/Completed buttons.
- Click “Submit.”
In a Work Order, Operations and Workstations are retrieved from the BOM of an Item. For optimal usability, ensure that the Routing is configured within the BOM.
Each created Job Card is assigned specific Workstations and Operations. The required raw materials from each Source Warehouse are computed based on the production quantity.
Upon Work Order submission, Job Cards are automatically generated based on the values in the Operations table.
2.1 Select Work Order with Item to Manufacture
You have the option to designate ‘Transfer Material Against’ as ‘Job Card’ on the Bill of Materials, allowing for the transfer of raw materials for Production against specific Job Cards.
In the Work Order, you can select the option.
2.3 Using a Job Card
Employee assignments and timing specifics are also outlined in the Job Card. It allows for the recording of job duration. If multiple employees are engaged in the same Operation, additional Job Cards can be generated by clicking the ‘Create Job Card’ button.
2.4 Material Request against Job Card
From the Job Card, a Material Request will be initiated as a request or order to procure the necessary raw materials for the manufacturing process. The Material Request generated will reference the original Job Card number.
Monitor the manufacturing progress within the Work Order through the completion of each Operation specified in the Work Order.
The completion of Job Cards enables tracking of the manufacturing progress within the Work Order, indicating the completion status of each Operation associated with the Work Order.
2.5 Scrap Items
During the process of completing operations, there may be instances where scrap materials are generated. It’s essential to include these scrap materials in the inventory. To do so, users must input the details of the scrap items in the job card. Additionally, users can designate defective or broken materials in the scrap items table.
3. Features
3.1 Tracking Quality Inspection
For manufacturing orders, it’s essential to monitor the quality of in-process (semi-finished) goods. This quality is determined by the processes (operations) performed on them, as specified in the Job Card. In-process tests are distinct from tests conducted on incoming and outgoing materials. By overseeing quality during production, it ensures that the final product meets the desired standards. You have the option to create a Quality Inspection for the Production Item against the Job Card.
