Asset Shift Allocation
The Asset Shift Allocation feature lets you change the shifts of an asset (with shift depreciation enabled) for a particular period and the remaining shifts are automatically adjusted by the system.
Let’s go through an example.
Below is the depreciation schedule for an asset with shift depreciation enabled, utilizing the Straight Line method, with a total of 12 depreciations and a depreciation frequency of 1. Initially, all shifts were set to single, and depreciation entries were recorded for the first 5 months.
Here are the predefined shift factors:
Next, navigate to the Asset Shift Allocation document type, input the asset’s name, and save. The existing depreciation schedule is retrieved to allow for shift adjustments. Let’s modify the shift for the 6th row to Triple.
Upon saving the changes, observe the automatic removal of the last row to maintain the total number of shifts.
Alternatively, if the shift for the 6th row had been changed to Double, the shift in the final row would adjust to Half.
Once you’ve confirmed the created depreciation schedule, submit the changes to generate a new depreciation schedule for the asset.
