Cannot enable Serial and Batch Number

There may be instances where you initially opt not to track inventory with batched or serialized information but decide to do so later on.

As per the system’s design, activating these options becomes prohibited once stock transactions have been initiated. Further details on why this functionality is disabled can be found here.

To re-enable these options, you have two choices: either delete all stock transactions associated with the item, or if deletion isn’t feasible, duplicate the item and receive incoming stock with these options enabled.

STEPS:
  1. Deplete the current stock of the item:
    • Utilize the Stock Reconciliation Tool or create a stock entry of type “Material issue” to set the current stock to zero.
  2. Receive the serialized inventory:
  3. Disable the old items:
    • Prevent selection of old items in transactions by disabling them.

Note:

  • If maintaining the same item code is desired:
    • Rename existing items.
    • Create the new item using the original item code to avoid maintaining the item under a new code.
