Track Items Using Barcode

A barcode consists of a value represented by vertical lines spaced apart. Barcode scanners serve as input devices, similar to keyboards. When a barcode is scanned, the data appears on the computer screen at the cursor’s location.

Item Master

To assign a barcode to a specific item, you need to access the item record. You can also input a barcode when creating a new item.

Once the barcode field is filled in the item master, items can be identified using their barcodes. This functionality is accessible in Delivery Note, Sales Invoice, Purchase Receipt, and Stock Reconciliation transactions exclusively.

UOM specific barcode

You can also designate distinct barcodes for various types of packaging for the same item, such as unit and box. Choose the unit of measurement (UOM) in the Item Barcode table to have it automatically selected when scanning items.
